Keywords help people find what they’re looking for when they search online. The more relevant keywords you have, the higher you will rank on Google search. Having the right keywords is a good start but a word is not yet a topic. You need to add your keywords into interesting and relevant blogposts to improve your rank.
The following 7 tips will help you to find ideas for coming up with a story around your keywords.
Tip 1: Get Reading!
Reading other blogs is a great way to see what works and what doesn’t. Reading other people’s blogs is also a good way of coming up with ideas for your own blog posts, but it can make it difficult to put your own spin on things after reading someone else’s opinion!
Tip 2: Make your title clickable!
A good title can make or break a post. Have a look at how other people use titles to sell the content of their blog and give you some inspiration for your own blog post. Titles need to be catchy! There are lots of types of titles that work well for blogs:
- Newsy e.g. just released, breaking news etc etc
- Guarantees e.g. Follow these tips to….
- Ways/tips/tricks e.g. “5 Tips/Ways/Tricks to….
- Listsicles e.g. Top 10……
Tip 3: Current events
Blogs need to updating all the time! A great way to do this is keep your finger on the pulse of current events. Depending on what your blog is about, you can adapt current events into subjects for you blog post, writing about current events will keep your blog interesting and current.
Tip 4: Get inspiration from your life
Real life stories are always the best! Writing about things you know is much easier and often more entertaining to read. If you or someone you know has a problem, it’s more than likely someone else has the same problem, so why not write about it?
However you should always make sure that you respect other people’s privacy, this can be done by changing names and locations. And above all you must ask permission from anyone whose story you wish to feature.
Tip 5: Series of blogposts
Writing a series of blogposts about the same set of keywords can help you rank higher on Google for those keywords. To avoid repeating yourself, a blogpost should be slightly different, but have a theme relating to a keyword.
If you’re writing about lots of things in your post, you should split these into separate blogposts to avoid the pitfall of lengthy and unstructured posts.
Tip 6: Interact with your audience
It’s important to communicate with your audience. If someone leaves a comment, a question or feedback on your blog, you should respond. An added bonus of this is some audience questions can be a great place to start your next post!
Tip 7: Google your own keywords and see what other people write about
If you’re struggling for ideas, Googling keywords can help you understand what people are actually looking for. Finding a way to stand out amongst the other search results is your next challenge!
