Marketing & Communications | Town Coordination | Ruthin Town Council, Denbighshire Council, Cadwyn Clwyd | Ruthin, North East Wales |
Shelly was commissioned to become the Towns Coordinator and invigorate the town by developing good relationships with stakeholder groups and immobilising the into an action strategy in order to drive footfall into the town.
Together with townspeople an action strategy was created and included and engaged all who wanted to be part of the process. We helped Ruthin to develop its brand identity, a new website, we provided digital training and digital visitor promotion. We put back the Old Market on the top of Town, developed commercial retail evenings, Christmas promotions and new concept events around art and tourism and marketed the activities far and wide.
You need to first go through an extensive consultation process involving public surveys, town hall meetings and workshops with a wide cross-section of the local community to unearth what was special about Ruthin, how it compared with neighbouring destinations and who the typical visitors were. We also discussed aspirations and perceptions of the town.
Experience has taught me that people have to be fully behind a plan to make it work and so we hosted town hall meetings where the plan and its concepts were debated in great detail and shortlisted. The coordination of business and stakeholders resulted in an action plan that was clear, contemporary and compelling, and would support local business, and drive in visitors to the area.
